| In the spring of 2007, shortly after receiving
a wheel chair from a 4th grade class
in OK,
Xavier became seriously ill. He required
extensive medical care and multiple
emergency
hospital stays, culminating with a
trip to
a neurological specialist in Boston.
The
financial strain of this emergency,
on top
of his already demanding medical needs,
was
almost too much for his adoptive family
to
handle. Fortunately, Marvin stepped
in and
generously donated funds to help cover
his
emergency care and prescription diet. Update 2007: Xavier is now doing wonderfully. He no longer requires medication, though Marvin is still assisting with his specialized diet. He is now focusing on mastering the use of his cart and spends his time at the shelter, visiting and teaching students about pets with special needs.
